Juba-based rapper-songwriter Karismatic Onen has been killing it on the music scene for a while now, that it’s hard to believe that the freestyle king is only releasing his debut album now.
The half-decade-long career seems to have prepared and molded Karismatic, who has officially released his first full solo project, Sultan, which was recorded in Riddim City Ent. Juba, South Sudan.
Sultan, the Album
The 14-track project is sure to have something for everyone that loves rap music, with five songs off the album already out. These include ‘Kalam Intaha’ ft Bobby Joe and Nappy Prince, ‘Ita Wen Min Zaman’ and ‘Sobur’ ft Weepon, ‘Dont Judge Me’ ft YMO, and ‘Inner Peace’ ft Kiarra McKenna.
Karismatic will release the other songs on the album gradually in a waterfall release strategy, with one track added on a monthly basis until the full release is made available on streaming platforms, distributed by Sudo Hits.
He asserts that the Album is motivational, inspirational and shows the Junubian Love at its finest.
“It also sheds a light on some of the issues facing specifically the youth of our society today and our whole community at large, such as deployment, broken relationships, depression, disappointments and more,” Karismatic says.
The Album was recorded between 2020 and 2021, a period when Karismatic did numerous experimentation with freestyling. This was surely enough time to piece together a masterclass worth listening to.
This is evident through the unique word play and the great vocals exhibited on each song, something that the rapper fully affirms.
”I am a Sultan by law, inheritance, surely my ancestors were mighty ones, so it’s in my blood,” he adds.
Karismatic has built himself a great following and his music has touched ears across South Sudan and the region —quite a feat before releasing a debut album.
With so many potential songs to look out for, he’s delivered an album sure to add even more muscle to his already legendary growing work.
